William is an acknowledged thought leader in the renewable energy transformation and particularly in ensuring safety in renewable systems. William also holds 18 patents, as an independent inventor. His portfolio includes the patent that is the foundation for Intermodal Renewables, many in the shipping, rail, trucking, hydrogen, battery, EV, charger, hydrogen dispenser, and safety spaces. A second patent for solarized panel functions will issue in the second quarter of 2025. He currently has seven pending applications, which will expand Intermodal Renewables global footprint. Prior to the launch of Intermodal Renewables, Mr. Lerner had over thirty roles at ISO for hydrogen technologies, was an ISO US Delegate, and ANSI registered expert in the hydrogen space, which included work in the maritime sector. He recently completed a full risk assessment and recommendations for the largest transportation agency in the USA. The work included: Ports, rail, bridges, tunnels, and airports.

With over 30 years’ experience in the retail oil and gas industry our services now straddle the transition to clean energy.
Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure - the EV-EXBOX Team carry out risk assessments for proposed and existing EV charging infrastructure to manage the risks associated with fire, firewater pollution containment and public safety. Our risk assessment and mitigation solutions have been recognised by the APEA (Association of Petroleum & Explosives Administration), as industry leading. Proper risk assessment does not stop you from rolling put EV infrastructure, but it does allow you to do it responsibly. In the event of an incident on an EV charging location the severity of any prosecution may come down to the quality of your design risk assessment.
Hydrocarbon Based Environmental Protection – the GW Environmental team advise organisations and business who want to implement simple solutions to protect the environment and improve their overall environmental and ecological stewardship. We help them achieve this through a reduction in their dependency on chemical cleaning agents and / or the mitigation of fats, oil, grease, fuel and hydrocarbons through the use of active bio remediation.
I am passionate about our planet and how precious every individual living organism on it is. When I am not delivering risk assessments and ecologically sustainable solutions I work as an ambassador for Great Ormond Street Hospital and The Sick Children's Trust in the UK.
George, a native of the Netherlands, has dedicated 35 years to the maritime industry, with the last 15 spent in the United States. Born and raised in the Netherlands, he has been a marine professional throughout his career, gaining extensive experience across various sectors of the industry. His journey took him to Belgium and later to the Middle East, specifically Dubai, driven by a desire to explore the world, immerse himself in different cultures, and expand his expertise. However, his passion for the maritime industry remained the constant force guiding his career.
His work has taken him to numerous exotic and diverse locations, including the entire Middle East, China, and vast regions of Africa such as Egypt, Nigeria, Djibouti, South Africa, and Madagascar. His time in the Middle East was particularly exciting, as it led him to Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Oman, Syria, Jordan, and Israel, among others. While living in the United Arab Emirates, he worked as a service sales manager for Wärtsilä UAE, marking his first tenure with the company. Through these experiences, he discovered that maritime professionals share a universal language and a unique sense of camaraderie that unites them across borders.
Before relocating to North America, George worked for a U.S.-based OEM in Racine, Wisconsin, and later served as an area sales manager for Damen Shipyards in the Netherlands, focusing on vessel sales in the U.S. During this period, he built an extensive network within the American maritime market. His long-standing interest in the United States began early in life, and after receiving a Green Card, the decision to move to Houston was made swiftly.
Upon settling in North America, he took on roles as a service and sales manager for ABB-US, specializing in Azipod Electric thrusters, and later played a key role in establishing a local presence for Van Dam, a Netherlands-based company specializing in fire and blast-resistant doors, windows, and wall systems for the offshore industry. In the last five years of his career, he served as an account manager for new vessel builds at Wärtsilä North America, based in Fort Lauderdale.
Recently, George identified an opportunity to pursue a long-standing ambition – offering professional advisory services in the maritime industry. Having provided informal guidance to numerous companies in Dubai and the U.S. and having successfully launched two maritime subsidiaries, he recognized the value of formalizing his expertise. His consultancy is built on a deep passion for the maritime sector, extensive experience, and a vast network of professional relationships, all of which form the foundation of the services he now provides.
